Right now I am SO grateful for simple "toys". More and more often I find myself saying, "See? This is why we don't need to buy our kids toys." In the last month this is how Eden has been occupying her time... filling her old Easter bucket with dirt and carting it around outside, "planting" (and I use that term loosely) in the front flower beds and flinging rocks into puddles to see how big of a splash she can make. In Scouts last week her troop made "bug habitats". They were given plastic cups to prepare for their bugs, which they filled with dirt, grass, water and whatnot. Then they went on a quest for bugs. Johnny was with me and joined in with the girls who collectively unearthed 100 worms. Yes, 100. After dinner Eden continued to look for bugs to put in her cup. On Saturday both of them made a game of stacking the couch pillows in various forms and then racing across the house, jumping over said pillows and landing on the sofa. This went on for at least 30 minutes.

We truely do not need to provide them with 1/2 of the store-bought items we have in the past.

Thanks SO MUCH for joining Gratituesday!! My kids really love their simple toys more than expensive ones too! They usually just make their own out of cardboard or whatever they can find!

Oh, fabulous post! My kids are enjoying the outdoors these days too, although we don't have a lot of bugs or worms to dig up. It's mostly just a lot of rock throwing, and dirt piling and digging. :-)

Glad to have you as part of Gratituesday!!

Great post. My boys have been catching bugs and putting them in an old Gladware container. They haven't touched any of the real toys since we have been at my moms!
